Cessna CitationJet, CJ Light Corporate Jets

The Cessna CitationJet / CJ series (Model 525) are American turbofan-powered light corporate jets built by the Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The Citation brand of business jets encompasses seven distinct "families" of aircraft. The Model 525 CitationJet was the basis for one of these families, which encompasses the CJ, CJ1, CJ1+, CJ2, CJ2+, CJ3, and CJ4 models.

The Cessna Citation CJ1 (Model 525) was developed as an improved version of the original CitationJet. The CJ1 improved on the CitationJet by adding a more-modern EFIS avionics suite and a moderate increase in maximum takeoff weight. The CJ1 has been replaced by the CJ1+, which shares the same airframe but has an additional updated avionics package, and FADEC to allow the engines to be controlled by computer rather than mechanical controls.

Sino Swearingen SJ30-2 Light Corporate Jet

The SJ30-2 light jet is a high-performance, long-range, intercontinental twin-jet business aircraft with a range of 4,630km (2,500 miles) and speeds of up to 890km/h (Mach 0.83). The new SJ30-2 business jet operates at altitudes up to 14,935m (49,000ft) and maintains a sea level pressure cabin to an altitude of 12,500m (41,000ft) with a very high pressurisation differential of 12psi.
The aircraft was designed and manufactured by the Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation, based in San Antonio, Texas, and Martinsberg, West Virginia. In June 2008, US-based Emivest Aerospace (EAC) acquired an 80% interest in Sino Swearingen Aircraft. EAC is a subsidiary of Emirates Investment & Development PSC (Emivest).

Three prototype aircraft were involved in the flight test programme and the SJ30-2 received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in October 2005.
The test aircraft completed dive testing to speeds up to Mach 0.9.
In July 2006, the SJ30-2 completed the journey from Goose Bay in Canada to Farnborough, UK, for the International Air Show, the first time a non-stop transatlantic flight has been made by a light jet.
The first aircraft was delivered to a US businessman in early 2007. The second was delivered in May 2007 and the third in September 2007, both to Action Aviation of the UK, the company's distributor for Europe, the Middle East and Russia. Action Aviation has 159 aircraft on order. Orders for over 290 aircraft have been received from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Sweden, the UK and the USA.

SJ30-2 light jet design

The aircraft is of all-metal construction with a chemically milled fuselage skin. The primary airframe structure was built at Aerostructures Corporation in Nashvillle, Tennessee, and transferred to Sino Swearingen.
The airfoil design has a 32.6° sweptback wing for faster speed. The easy to use slotted trailing edge Fowler flaps are actuated electrically and are coupled to the hydraulically actuated full span leading edge slats giving good short airfield performance. A 3,000ft runway can accommodate the take-off run at light loads and 4,000ft runways accommodate a maximum load take-off.
Flight deck

The aircraft is flown by a single pilot. The flight deck, which accommodates the pilot and either a co-pilot or passenger, is separated from the main cabin by a bulkhead. The aircraft has conventional and manual controls. The cockpit is fitted with a two-piece bird-strike proof, electrically heated, wrap-around windscreen. The pilot has a Honeywell Primus II radio communications system.
"The airfoil has a 32.6° sweptback wing for faster speed."
The flight deck is equipped with a Honeywell Primus Epic control display system with three Honeywell DU-180 flat panel 8in×10in (203mm×254mm) colour liquid crystal displays. Two of the display screens are primary flight displays and one is a multifunction display.
The avionics suite includes dual IC-615 avionics computers with a flight director, autopilot, flight management system and global positioning system.
The avionics includes two Honeywell AZ-850 air data computers. The navigation system includes an automatic direction finder and distance measuring equipment.
Optional safety systems include: lightning sensor system, TCAS 2000 traffic alert and collision avoidance system, and a dual redundancy system with second flight management, global positioning system, automatic direction finder and distance measuring equipment system.
A Honeywell Primus 331 colour weather radar is installed in the nose.
Fully configurable cabin

The cabin is pressurised to 12psi but has actually been tested to 31.4psi, a world record achieved during an FAA pressurisation ultimate load test. The 12psi cabin pressure, maintained at an altitude of 49,000ft, gives increased comfort for the passengers and crew.
The cabin air conditioning system includes engine bleed air heating and a vapour cycle cooling system. The main 5.4m³ cabin can be configured to the customer's requirement but a typical cabin layout includes six passenger seats. The extra-wide, full-berthing seats can be fitted with telephone and entertainment systems. Work tables can be fitted with computer ports and 110V sockets and plugs. The aft-facing seats fully recline.
The baggage compartment to the aft of the main cabin has a capacity of 1.5m³.
Turbofan engines

"A typical SJ20-2 cabin layout includes six extra-wide,
full-berthing passenger seats."
The aircraft is powered by two Williams International FJ44-2A turbofan engines which are pod mounted on the sides of the rear section of the fuselage. The engines are rated at 10.23kN. The fuel system has six fuel tanks holding 2,797l of fuel. There is a tank in each outer wing, two wing hopper tanks, a centre wing tank and a torsion box-type fuselage tank. The single refueling point is installed in the fuselage tank.
The wing and the engine inlets are fitted with an engine bleed air anti-icing system.
Landing gear

The aircraft is fitted with Integrated Aerospace retractable tricycle-type landing gear; each unit has twin wheels. The nose unit is hydraulically steerable through ±60°.

Raytheon Hawker 4000 Super Mid-Size Corporate Jet

Raytheon Hawker 4000 Super Mid-Size Corporate Jet

The Hawker 4000, originally known as the Hawker Horizon, is a super-midsize business jet developed by Hawker Beechcraft (formerly Raytheon Aircraft Company).

Originally announced in 1996 as the Hawker Horizon, the 4000 made its official debut in November 2005 when a development aircraft was displayed at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention. As of March 2007 orders totaled more than 130 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin in June 2008. On December 2, 2005 NetJets signed an order for 50 of the new aircraft, the largest single commercial order in the history of Raytheon Aircraft.

The Hawker 4000 is being certified to FAA FAR Part 25 standards, which places a five-year time limit on certification of a new transport category aircraft. The 4000 completed Function and Reliability Tests on May 25 2006. However, since the Part 25 five-year window expired May 31, 2006, the company filed an extension request to head off the possibility that the certification program would need to restart from the beginning. On November 21, 2006, the company announced that the 4000 had received its FAA type certification.

In May 2008, BJETS completed an order for ten Hawker 4000 business jets from Hawker Beechcraft Corporation. The contract value including all options exercised was said to be in excess of $330 million. The deal was announced at EBACE on May 20, 2008.

Following the BJETS order, Hawker Beechcraft delivered its Hawker 4000 super-midsized business jet to customer Jack P. DeBoer during a special ceremony at the company's Customer Delivery Center in Wichita, Kan. At the time, the Hawker 4000 played an important role in a new era for general aviation, as it is first in its class to be based on its composite construction.

The Hawker 4000 received its certification in China from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in December 2009.

In February 2010, Hawker Beechcraft delivered its first Hawker 4000 business jet into mainland China. The jet was said to be based at the Beijing Capital International Airport.

Tupolev ANT-20

The Tupolev ANT-20 Maxim Gorky was a Soviet

eight-engine aircraft, the largest of the

1930s. Its wingspan was similar to that of a

modern Boeing 747.

The ANT-20 was designed by Andrei Tupolev,

using the all-metal airframe technologies

devised by German engineer Hugo Junkers

during the World War I years, and

constructed between July 4, 1933 and April

3, 1934. It was one of two aircraft of its

kind built by the Soviets. The aircraft was

named after Maxim Gorky and dedicated to the

40th anniversary of his literary and public

activities. The ANT-20 was the largest known

aircraft to have used the Junkers design

philosophy of corrugated sheet metal for

many of the airframe's key components,

especially the corrugated sheet metal

skinning of the airframe.
It was intended for Stalinist propaganda

purposes and was equipped with a powerful

radio set called "Voice from the sky"

("Голос с неба", Golos s neba), printing

machinery, library, radiostations,

photographic laboratory, and a film

projector with sound for showing movies in

flight. For the first time in aviation

history, this aircraft was equipped with a

ladder, which would fold itself and become a

part of the floor.[1]
Also, for the first time in aviation

history, the aircraft used not only direct

current, but alternating current of 120

volts, as well. The aircraft could be

disassembled and transported by railroad if

needed. The aircraft set several carrying

capacity world records and is also the

subject of a 1934 painting by Vasily

Kuptsov, in the collection of the Russian

Museum at St. Petersburg.

Tupolev Tu-444 Supersonic Business Jets

Tupolev Tu-444  Supersonic Business Jets

(Proposed)

The Supersonic Business Jet (SSBJ) has long

been a fantasy of aerospace engineers and

business executives alike. For many decades

designs have been floated, but for one

reason or another, the projects have

withered and died on the vine. Currently

there are half a dozen or so aircraft

manufacturers with an eye on fielding the

first SSBJ including the Tupolev Design

Bureau. With a long history of supersonic

capable military bombers, Tupolev has a vast

depth of knowledge to draw from.  Whether

the market will ever accept the utility and

cost of a SSBJ, however, remains to be seen.

For fans of the concept, Ramzzess recently

released his concept of what the Tu-444 SSBJ

might eventually look like. While the

external model is based on actual design

plans released by Tupolev, the interior,

avionics, and panels are strictly from the

mind of Ramzzess.
